I know that dish and dirctv have expressed they can't use local and State eas because there is no way to lo get the alerts at the local level. However, I was thing that since National public Radio is avialbe in mmoast areas and they use the EAS for almost every alert issued they could have their recivers programed to monitor their local NPR station for all alerts.
I'm concerned that the legacy end user equipment isn’t going to be able to function after IPAWS is used. I mean for example a TiVo and Moxi don’t support the audio portion of alerts, only the banner which I think uses rigid predestinated scripts.
